FAX Mode

The telephone rings once.

The machine automatically starts receiving the message.
Manual Receive Mode

The machine rings continuously until you answer the call. Pick up the
handset.

Either:

If you hear a voice on the other end, speak in reply.
❐
If you hear a tone every few seconds, the other end is a fax terminal
(also, if you don’t hear anything, the other end may be an older ma-
chine that doesn’t send identification signals).

If the person at the other end wishes to send you a fax message,
remove any documents from the feeder, press the Start key and replace
the handset.
