1. OVERVIEW
Aero Compact Life Rafts are designed for coastal use and are available in 2 and 4 person
capacities. They are not for offshore use.
The Aero Compact 4 person raft is composed of one large independent buoyancy tube, a single
layer floor, 2 ballast pockets, a righting handle, and a boarding stirrup. The Aero Compact 2
person is composed of one large independent buoyancy tube, a single layer floor, and 2 ballast
pockets. Aero Compact rafts that include the optional canopy (IPL Fig. 1, Item 220) are equipped
with an inflatable arch-tube. The arch-tube requires manual inflation and connection to the main
buoyancy tube. All tubes are constructed of a yellow urethane-coated nylon fabric while the
ballast pockets are made from a single layer of orange fabric. These ballast pockets help stabilize
the raft in rough weather.
Aero Compact Life Rafts come fully equipped with life lines, a sea anchor, a pocket knife, a bailer,
a locator light, and a handpump. An optional canopy is included with the 4 person rafts.
All Aero Compact Life Rafts are inflated using high pressure carbon dioxide (CO
2
) gas by means of
an integral inflation system. The gas is stored in a cylinder which is stowed in an outside holder
at the rear of the life raft (See additional section for details).
Each liferaft, once deflated and folded, is packed as a self contained unit in a yellow vinyl coated
polyester valise bag (IPL Fig. 1, Items 60-60B). This valise is marked with important information
such as inflation instructions, capacity, serial no. of unit, model type, manufacturer’s address, and
date of next service. These life rafts are packed in way to protect your raft until needed and to
insure the activation painterline is easily located for efficient deployment (See Fig. 2)
