‘Replaced By’ means that the part in the part number column is replaced by and is
interchangeable with the part number shown in the notation.
‘Replaces’ means that the part in the part number column replaces and is interchangeable with
the part number shown in the notation.
‘Superseded By’ means that the part in the part number column is replaced by and is not
interchangeable with the part number shown in the notation.
‘Supersedes’ means that the part in the part number column replaces and is not interchangeable
with the part number shown in the notation.
6. EFFECTIVITY CODE
This alphabetical code indicates the applicability of sub-assemblies and parts to their next higher
assembly or sub-assembly. Bold letters in the EFF. CODE column represent primary codes which
other items will reference. If an item is applicable to all units the EFF. CODE column is left blank.
Example: Item 10 is used in Assembly 1B as indicated by the listing of effectivity code C. Item
20 is used in Assembly 1, item 20A is used 1A and 1B, while item 30 is used in all assemblies.

7. NON-ILLUSTRATED ITEMS
Some item numbers in the parts list are preceded by a hyphen, e.g., -30A. This indicates that this
item will not be found on the illustration, either because it was not policy to illustrate such an
item, or because the item is not illustrated in the form in which it is listed. For example, the
particular item may not be listed as an assembly but illustrated exploded, in order to show the
component parts.
