The above diagram is one of many possible ways to install the T&P release valve. It is subjected to changed according
to the local plumbing codes which the installation must be compliance with.
The installation manual must give instructions to meet local code requirements for penetrating structural members
and fire-rated assemblies. The intent of these paragraphs can be met with statements in the installation portion of
the manual instructing the installer to run the piping in such a way that the performance of any structural member
or fire rated assembly is not reduced. It will then be up to the local code to dictate exactly how this is done.
