CoMPonenT desCRIPTIons
3. Components description
GSE IP-195 contains 24 evacuated glass tubes, which has an aluminum fin and a heat pipe in the
middle. The unique design optimizes the heat absorbing and transfer efficiency. The system has
five components illustrated as below.
HeAT PIPes:
The heat pipe is the core heat-transfer device in the system to transfer heat between solar thermal panel
and the water in the tank. At the hot surface of the solar thermal panel, the very low pressure in the heat
pipe decreases the boiling temperature point of the small amount of the liquid in the pipe. The liquid
turns into a vapor by absorbing heat from the solar thermal panel surface. The vapor raises to the top of
the pipe injected in the cold water in the tank, and condenses back into a liquid releasing the latent heat.
The liquid then returns to the hot surface through the gravity action where it evaporates once more and
repeats the cycle.
WATeR TAnK:
The storage water tank contains four layers: inner shell layer, ceramic Nano R &A insulation layer, interme

diate foam insulation layer and surface appearance layer. The shell layer is made of corrosion-proof food-
grade stainless steel (316L), it can hold water pressure up to 150 PSI. The ceramic Nano R &A insulation is
on the outside surface of inner tank. It is an infrared reflective layer which reflects the infrared energy back
into the water in the tank and reduces the loss of energy to the environment. The 3-inch thick foam insula
-
tion layer effectively prevent the energy lose, and maintain the tank water temperature self-sustainable
during continuous unclear days in the cold winter time. The surface appearance layer is made of a galva
-
nized sheet metal which provides a fine finished surface and a long-lasting life.
eVACUATed TUBes:
Evacuated tube is a double layers of glass tube evacuated in the middle. The outer layer is transparent
glass layer, and the inner layer contains an absorber plate conjunct to a aluminum fin with a heat pipe in
the middle. The surrounding vacuum around the tube greatly reduces the convection and heat exchange
with the outside climate and improves the performance efficiency, especially in cold weather conditions.
The inner absorption coating plate can convert up to 99% of the energy from visible and invisible lights to
thermal energy. The 2-inch long silver-colored getter material layer at the bottom of the inner tube surface
absorbs the remaining gases to keep vacuum in the hollow space. The outer glass wall acts as glazing, cre

ating a vacuum space and protects the coating against weather. The overall efficiency of a tube is over 92%
after deducting the energy that is absorbed and reflected on the outer wall of the tube. The dimension of
the tube is Φ=47mm length=1500mm.
ReFleCToR:
Reflector is a silver coated reflecting panel. The reflectors can improve 5% performance efficiency and
reinforce the frame structure.
FRAMes:
Frame is made of aluminum. There are two frame styles for the flat roof and pitched roof respectively. The
length of the rear legs of the pitched roof frame is shorter than the length of the flat roof one. The rear
legs can be cut to fit some specific cases, such as very deep pitched roof.
