Distributed
Management
Platform
(DMP)
Important
‐
During
the
software
upgrade
process,
the
Ethernet
switches
and
devices
may
cycle
power
or
reboot
which
will
cause
loss
of
communications
between
various
components
depending
on
the
physical
topology
of
the
LAN.
There
‐
fore,
it
is
imperative
that
you
fully
understand
how
each
Ethernet
switch
and
device
is
connected
to
the
LAN
before

process.
We
recommend
that
you
develop
a
detailed
Topology
Map/Sketch
of
your
existing
Ethernet
switch
network.
Your
Topology
Map
should
include
the
location
of
the
DMP,
PC,
and
all
Ethernet
switches
at
a
minimum.
Due
to
the
nature
of
the
firmware
upgrade
process,
great
care
should
be
taken
when
planning
network
updates.
It
is
rec

be
scheduled
during

critical,
off
peak,
or

periods.
The
DMP
has
two
key
modes
of
operation
for
upgrading
the
software
on
your
Ethernet
switches
and
devices.
1.
One
at
a
Time
ENABLED
–
This
mode
will
allow
only
one
device
to
be
upgraded
at
a
time.
This
is
the
default
option
and
is
generally
recommended
for
Tiered
Star,
Daisy
Chain,
and
Redundant
Ring
Topologies.
Using
the
EZ
mode
is
the
safest
method
since
it
prevents
the
likelihood
for
the
loss
of
communications
during
a
firmware
update
of
a
downstream
switch
caused
by
an
upstream
switch
being
power
cycled.
2.
One
at
a
Time
DISABLED
–
This
mode
allows
multiple
Ethernet
switches
to
be
upgraded
concurrently.
This
mode
is
recommended
for
simple
Star
topologies
and
Test
Lab
environments
only.
The
DMP
device
should
be
placed
and
connected
at
the
top
level
of
the
Star
topology
to
ensure
each
Ethernet
device
being
upgraded
will
not
lose
con

to
the
DMP
during
the
upgrade
process
of
neighboring
switches
and
devices.
Install
and
connect
the
DMP
device
to
the
LAN
using
one
of
the
four
designated
LAN
ports.
a.
One
at

Mode
Enabled
–
the
specific
location
you
connect
the
DMP
to
is
not
as
critical
since
one
device
will
perform
the
update
at
any
given
moment.
b.
One
at
a

Disabled
–
It
is
recommended
that
the
DMP
Device
be
at
the
center/top
of
the

It
should
be
connected
to
a
larger
distribution

that
has
either
already
been
upgraded,
is

or
will
not
be

during
this
