RS 485 SERIAL PORT PROTOCOL

This manual section concerns the RS 485 serial port protocol (

REM-CTRL

21

, usually

for RCF TS 9918 remote controls) that is necessary to develop a custom software (not
supplied by RCF) in case other remote controls (e.g. AMX® / CRESTON® type) shall be
used.
This protocol concerns both AX 8042 automixer and ZX 8060 (any difference is
indicated).

CONNECTION

-

Half-duplex RS-485, point-to-point.

-

No multi-slave addressing is considered, only one unit can be controlled.

-

8N1, 38400 baud.

PROTOCOL

A simple, ASCII control protocol is available, as follows:

-

AX 8042 / ZX 8060 only replies to commands, no spontaneous messages are sent.

-

This protocol is case sensitive.

-

A command is terminated by a CR (0x0D ASCII character).

-

AX 8042 / ZX 8060 always replies to a command with a response line, terminated by a
CR. The first field is the response code, if it applies, further fields will follow separated
by spaces.

-

Before sending a new command, it is mandatory to wait for the reply of the previous one.

If no reply is needed, ACK will be returned.
