Console Calibration
Metric Rate Display
For Rates displayed in 1 kg increments, the formula to calculate the spreader constant is:
Where SC = the Spreader Constant, L = Length of belt travel in centimeters per 1 revolution of the encoder,
GH = Gate Height in centimeters and GW = Gate Width in centimeters.
For Example:
Given a Length of belt travel of 33 cm, a Gate Height of 18 cm and a Gate Width of 38 cm:
Enter 797 as the Spreader Constant if the field computer is set to display Metric units.
Verification of Spreader Constant
To verify and refine the spreader constant, perform the following procedure:
1.
Weigh loaded truck and note weight.
2.
Enter the product density in lbs/ft3 [grams/liter] by pressing METER CAL and using the Edit mode.
3.
Reset the total volume by pressing TOTAL VOLUME and using the Edit mode to program “0” as this
volume.
4.
With the rate switch in the MAN position, unload a portion of the load by positioning the boom switch to ON.
5.
Determine the actual weight unloaded by re-weighing the truck.
6.
Compare to the TOTAL VOLUME displayed by the console.
7.
Perform the following calculation to correct the spreader constant if desired:
where CSC = Corrected Spreader Constant, OSC = Old Spreader Constant, TV = TOTAL VOLUME, and
AW = Actual Weight of product unloaded.
For Example:
Using an Old Spreader Constant of 228 [797], Total Volume = 2000 lbs [4400 kg], and the Actual Weight of
product unloaded = 1950 lbs [4290 kg]
234 [817] is the new spreader constant. Repeat this procedure until the weight of the metered material
equals the value displayed when you press TOTAL VOLUME.
Product Density
The product density in lbs/cu.ft. [grams/liter] is entered under the METER CAL key when a spreader constant
is used. Press the METER CAL key again to toggle between meter cal and product density.
Note:
To increase the system accuracy when applying at low rates, use the decimal shift feature as
explained in Decimal Shift section on page 35.
