Confirm that Spreader Constant is zero (no decimal point in Meter Cal) and enter a Meter Cal of 200.
Enter zero in Total Volume. Run machine and collect a sample large enough to weigh accurately
and perform following calculation.
Spreader Constant = Meter Cal x Total Volume X Product Density
Actual volume
10
EXAMPLE:
Meter Cal
= 200
Total Volume
= 2000
Weight of collected material
= 1600
Product Density
= 50.0 lbs/cu.ft.
Spreader Constant = 200 x 2000 x 50.0 = 1250
1600 10
Enter this number as Spreader Constant and enter Product Density as Meter Cal (now with a
decimal point).
NOTE:
Verify Spreader Constant by performing Spreader Constant Calibration
procedure in Appendix 7 before field application.
3.
CALCULATING "METER CAL"
Product Density in lbs/cu.ft. [grams/cc] is entered under METER CAL key when Spreader Constant
is used.
NOTE:
To increase the system accuracy when applying at low rates, use the
decimal shift feature as explained in CONSOLE PROGRAMMING.
4.
CALCULATING "RATE CAL"
The application rate in lbs/acre [kg/ha] is entered as RATE CAL. Consult the equipment manual to
insure that the selected gate opening is capable of applying at this applicaiton rate.
NOTE:
The Spreader Constant must be recalculated anytime the gate opening is
changed.
5.
CONTROLLING SPINNER RPM
When using a CAN control node capable of controlling spinner speed, set up the product in GRAN
1 mode and use calibration values as follows:
METER CAL = # of pulses (bolt heads) x 10
1 revolution of spinner
SPREADER CONSTANT = 0
RATE CAL = Target RPM
See Boom Select feature in DATA MENU and configure boom selections accordingly.
3)
For systems where calculating volume of discharge is difficult (metering wheels, augers, etc.),
Spreader Constant can be determined by perfoming a catch test.
