ASSEMBLY OF CUTTING
UNITS TO MACHINE
FITTING FIXED AND FLOATING HEADS TO
CUTTING UNITS
a. Fit the required mounting head to the cutting
unit and secure with four screws, four washers
and four S.L.washers.
b. Fit the required roller bracket to the drive
end of the cutting unit using two screws, two
washers and two S.L.washers.
FITTING CUTTING UNIT TO LIFT ARM (Fig.25)
A. Loosen clamp retaining screws (A) holding
pivot shaft (B) to lift arm and withdraw pivot
shaft with clamp collar and spacers.
b. Fit two O rings into mounting head. Lubricate
O rings and pivot shaft.
c. Feed pivot shaft through bushes in mounting
head making sure O rings remain in the
recesses, leave pivot shaft protruding about
25mm (1in) through mounting head. Fit
required spacers onto pivot shaft.
d. Align pivot shaft with clamp on lift arm and
using a hide hammer knock the pivot shaft
through the first half of the clamp. By raising
and lowering the lift arm and rocking the cutting
unit align the pivot shaft with the second half of
the clamp and knock home.
e. Tighten the clamps holding the pivot shaft to
the lift arm. Ensure clamp screws are tightened
evenly and securely and that the clamp is
seated evenly on the pivot shaft.
f. Lubricate the cutting unit mounting head with
Shell Retinax 'A' grease.
FITTING HYDRAULIC MOTOR TO CUTTING UNIT
(Fig.26)
a. Fit drive adaptor to cylinder shaft, lubricate
spline with Shell S7222' grease.
b. Align hydraulic motor with drive adaptor on
cutting unit. Locate O ring between hydraulic
motor and bearing housing.
c. Secure hydraulic motor (A) to bearing housing
with two bolts M10 x 45 and two washers (B).
