CUTTING
The machine must always be used in 4 wheel
drive for cutting.
1.
Select the desired cylinder speed. To cut
longer grass particularly at higher heights of cut
reduce the cylinder speed. Lower cylinder
speeds will produce a more efficient cut in
longer grass conditions. In short grass
conditions maximum cylinder speed may be
used to give a finer cut if required.
2.
Start the engine and set the throttle control
lever to the full operating speed position.
3.
Ensure that the pedal control lever is in the
cutting position.
4.
After first checking that the safety catches have
been released lower the cutting units to the
ground.
5.
Engage the cutting cylinder drive by moving the
lever downwards.
6.
Depress the mow foot switch to start the cutting
cylinders rotating.
7.
Release the parking brake and gently press
down on the upper pad of the footpedal for
forward motion. The foot should always be kept
firmly on the pedal. To relax the foot a jerky
motion will result.
IMPORTANT NOTE: When cutting the engine throttle
control lever should always be set at the "maximum"
operating speed position.
This will ensure efficient operation, fuel economy,
minimum cylinder and bottom blade wear and the
cleanest cut in difficult conditions. If the engine starts
to labour, the forward speed of the machine should be
reduced by means of the footpedal.
OPERATION OF DIFFERENTIAL LOCK
The differential lock can be operated in 4 wheel drive.
When slipping of one of the front wheels occurs, the
differential lock should be engaged by depressing the
switch (A Fig.22). To keep the differential lock
engaged, the heel must be kept on the switch. To
disengage release the pressure on the switch and the
differential lock will automatically disengage.
Safety. if, after engaging the differential lock, both
front wheels start to slide, the differential lock should
be disengaged and the machine reversed out of the
difficult condition. Do not engage differential lock
unless wheel slip has occured. The differential lock
cannot be used in 2 wheel drive. If wheel slip occurs
select 4 wheel drive.
IMPORTANT
Only use differential lock at low speeds.
Only use differential lock on grass.
Never use differential lock when turning.
Never use differential lock on hard surfaces.
