14.2 Testin g
Establish that a satisfactory p u rged gas s u pply and an
electrical s u pply is a v ailable to the heater. Ens u re that all
time clocks and thermostats are set to call for heat.
With the gas s u pply c u t off at the appliance isolating cock
and the electrical s u pply isolated by s w itching off at the
local s w itch and remo v ing the appliance inlet pl u g, open
the control chamber sec u red by the t w o scre w s. Loosen
the sealing scre w from the press u re test point and
remo v e the co v er cap from the go v ernor.
T u rn on the gas s u pply and connect appliance electrical
pl u g. Ens u re that the timer or thermostat, if fitted, are set
to call for f u ll gas rate. S w itch on at the local s w itch. The
seq u ence as described sho u ld take place. If not, refer to
detailed fa u lt finding seq u ence. When flame is
established, check the gas press u re reading and adj u st if
necessary. Refer to b u rner data label.
Check the gas press u re at the o u tlet of the gas v al v e. See
Page 73, Section 18.9.1 or See Page 74, Section 18.9.2
for press u re settings or refer to the data plate.
S w itch off the electrical s u pply (sh u tting do w n the heater),
remo v e press u re ga u ge - tighten press u re test point
scre w , ens u ring a tight gas seal. Replace go v ernor co v er
cap. Close b u rner side co v er.
14.3 Commissionin g (Multiburner)
1. Establish that a satisfactory p u rged gas s u pply and
an electrical s u pply is a v ailable to the heater.
2. ENSURE that all the dampers are in the f u lly open
position.
3. With the gas s u pply off at each of the b u rners and
the electrical s u pply isolated, open the control
chamber sec u red by t w o self tapping scre w s.
4. Ens u re that all time clocks and thermostats are set
to call for heat.
5. S w itch on the electrical s u pply at the main isolator.
This w ill start the exha u st fan.
6. Balancin g Cold Suction
Check each b u rner v ac uu m by connecting an
inclined press u re ga u ge to the tee on the press u re
s w itch inlet side in the b u rner. Adj u st the damper so
that the s u ction is 1.9 mbar. Repeat for each b u rner.
7. Starting at the end b u rner (f u rthest from the exha u st
fan), w ith the inclined press u re ga u ge connected as
described abo v e. T u rn on the gas s u pply and con-
nect appliance electrical pl u g, reset the press u re
s w itch by remo v ing s u ction from the inlet side of the
press u re s w itch w aiting se v eral seconds and recon-
necting. The start u p seq u ence described on Page
58, Section 14 sho u ld take place. If not, refer to
detailed fa u lt finding seq u ence. When flame is
established, check the gas press u re reading and
adj u st if necessary. See data label.

Repeat this proced u re for each b u rner in the sys-
tem.
Close the control chamber and sec
u re w ith t w o
sheet metal scre w s.
8. Balancin g Hot Suction
Reconnect all the b u rners on the system and allo w
them to reach f u ll operating temperat u re (approxi-
mately 20 min u tes). Ret u rn to each b u rner and
recheck the hot s u ctions at the tee on the inlet to the
press u re s w itch. Readj u st the damper so that the
hot s u ction of 1.5 mbar (2.0 mbar for BH40EF) is
achie v ed and lock the damper in position.
14.4 System Checks
S w itch on again at the local s w itch to ens u re smooth
ignition. Carry o u t the follo w ing system checks:
When r u nning, t u rn off the gas s u pply at the appliance.
The heater w ill immediately sh u t do w n follo w ed by three
ignition attempts follo w ed by locko u t.
Linear and Do u ble Linear only:
When r u nning, disconnect the fan pl u g from the b u rner.
The u nit sho u ld sh u t do w n w ithin three seconds, pro v ing
operation of the press u re s w itch.
14.5 User Instructions
After satisfactory testing, ens u re that the client is f u lly
a w are of the operation of the system. Bring this man u al to
the attention of the u ser or p u rchaser; instr u ct them in the
safe operation of the heater(s). Ad v ise the u ser that if the
system is u nfl u ed, any red u ction in the nat u ral v entilation
of the b u ilding may req u ire a fl u e to be fitted, or additional
v entilation grilles w ill be req u ired.
