11.3 Outside Combustion Air Supply
Where necessary, clean air may be d u cted into the b u rner
box thro u gh an added spigot on the back of the b u rner
box replacing the existing d u st arrest baffle plate.
See Page 50, Section 11.1.3 for recommendations on d u ct
length. Air d u ct sho u ld be as straight as possible. Do not
u se bends in excess of 45°. Cons u lt the man u fact u rer if
more than 2 x 45° offset bends are necessary. The fresh
air d
u ct m u st be self s u pporting.
11.3.1 Air S u pply Req u irements
When fresh air d u ct is u sed, follo w one of these r u les:
• The fl u e m u st penetrate the roof w hile fresh air can
penetrate any w all. ( See Page 52, Figure 33 )
• The fl u e and fresh air s u pply m u st penetrate the
same roof, at a minim u m of 1 m apart. ( See Page 52,
Figure 33 )
• The fl u e m u st penetrate 1 m higher than the fresh air
inlet on the same w all. ( See Page 52, Figure 33 )
