OPERATION
NOTE: It is a good idea to make a practice cut on a piece of scrap material before cutting the work material. This will
allow you to be sure you are familiar with the way the tool operates, and that the cut can be made properly.
CAUTION: Always make sure the power cord is unplugged from its electrical outlet prior to assembling or
making any adjustments to the tool.
1. Follow all safety precautions already discussed.
2. Plug the tool into an appropriate breaker switch protected power outlet.
3. Position the jaws of the electric shear over the edge of the sheet metal you wish cut.
4. Squeeze the trigger / power switch to begin cutting the metal. The trigger / power switch is variable, allowing
you to vary the cutting speed by the amount of pressure that you squeeze the trigger / power switch. As you
squeeze the trigger / power switch more, the tool will increase speed, and it will cut slower as you release
the trigger / power switch.
5. Move the cutting blades along the desired cutting line of the work piece.
6. On large pieces of sheet metal, you may wish to swivel the head to one side or the other to prevent
interference of the tool handle with the work piece. See the section Swiveling The Cutter Head for
instructions on how to swivel the head.
7. Once you have completed the cut, release the Power Switch, unplug the tool, and store it properly.
SWIVELING THE CUTTER HEAD
1. Loosen the hex head bolt using the hex wrench provided.
2. Firmly grip the cutter head and twist it to the desired position. Tighten
the hex bolt to keep the cutter head in that position.
WARNING: Wear leather gloves when making adjustments to the cutter
head or servicing the blades.
MAINTENANCE
Before making any adjustments or changing any accessory, turn off the tool and unplug it from its power source.
1. Check for damaged parts. Before using any tool, any part that appears to be damaged should be carefully
checked to determine that it would operate properly and perform its intended functions. Check for alignment
and binding of moving parts, for broken parts or mounting fixtures, or for any other condition that may affect
proper operation. Any part that is damaged should be repaired or replaced by a qualified technician.
2. When servicing, use only identical replacement parts. Only use accessories intended for use with this tool.
Replace damaged parts immediately.
3. Keep the tool clean. Wipe the tool with a clean cloth and periodically blow out all areas with compressed air.
If compressed air is not available, use a brush to remove dust from all areas. Do not use harsh chemicals or
solvents to clean the tool. These chemicals could seriously damage the plastic housing.
4. Regularly inspect all mountings and screws to ensure tightness. Should any screws become loose,
tighten immediately.
5. If repairs are required, bring your tool to an authorized service center.
