INTRODUCTION
The PE-GATEWAY supports 2 different modes of operation, which are
Pass-Through Only Mode and Cached Mode.
In pass through only mode, every MODBUS TCP request will be
processed transmitted over the serial line and the response from the
MODBUS RTU slave will be sent back to the MODBUS TCP master.
In cached mode of operation, initially the MODBUS TCP request is
passed through and queued in the cache of the gateway. The cached
requests are sent over the serial line, every configured period of time
and updated with the response.
Thus for subsequent requests from the MODBUS/TCP master, the
cached data is used.
When no pass through requests are pending, the cache is updated
once every time configured in the CACHE POLLING TIMEOUT
parameter. When the MODBUS/TCP master does not request any
data registered in the cache already, the corresponding entry is
invalidated within CACHE INVALIDATION TIMEOUT.
