3 First Steps

INFORMATION

Keep the assembly instructions for all components in a safe place.

3.3.1

Assembling or Exchanging the Desiccant Cartridge

ATTENTION!
Damage caused by moisture!

If you do not exchange the desiccant cartridge, moisture can condense on the

optical components in the interferometer and can distort the measurement

result. In an extreme case, the instrument could be damaged !
» Exchange the desiccant cartridge when it is saturated

INFORMATION

Keep the see-through sleeve of the desiccant cartridge you have installed to

replace the desiccant cartridge subsequently.

INFORMATION

If you pack the instrument for long transport where it may be subjected to

greatly fluctuating climatic conditions (e.g. by air freight), please remove the

desiccant cartridge which has been installed and simply enclose the

desiccant cartridge in its original packaging with the instrument. Make sure

that the opening on the back of the interferometer is sealed with protective

film.

The moisture indicator on the desiccant cartridge shows you when it needs to

be changed. The moisture indicator changes color once the desiccant

cartridge is saturated and can not absorb any more moisture. Because of this,

regularly monitor the condition of the moisture indicator and exchange the

desiccant cartridge if necessary.

To assemble or resp. exchange the desiccant cartridge, proceed as follows:

1. If none desiccant cartridge is assembled yet: At the back of the

interferometer, pull the protective foil from the bracket of the desiccant

cartridge.

2. If a desiccant cartridge is assembled already: At the back of the

interferometer, use the back of the transparent packing of a desiccant

cartridge to turn the installed desiccant cartridge counterclockwise from

the bracket.

3. Use a transparent packing of a desiccant cartridge to twist another

desiccant cartridge counterclockwise out of its transparent packing.

4. Using the transparent packing, screw the (new) desiccant cartridge

clockwise into the holder on the back of the interferometer (refer to

IGURE

3.4).

5. Monitor the moisture indicator on the desiccant cartridge.
