6 | Installing the Board and Display
To set a display resolution
Sun PCI workstation only.
Use switch S1 to select a preferred
display resolution. If you change the settings for switch S1, the
new settings override the default display mode of the board.
The table on page 79 in Appendix A lists the switch positions for
the display resolutions available. After you change the settings,
reboot the system to activate the new default display mode.
See “Configuring Display Settings” on page 55 for
more information.
Installing the M2 Board
You can install the M2 board in either a 32-bit or 64-bit PCI slot.
Before you proceed with board installation, check the safety
precautions listed on page 3.
Turn off your computer but leave the power cord plugged
into a grounded outlet so that the cord serves as a ground
for the computer.
To install the board
1 Remove the blank bracket or backplate from the back of
any available PCI slot.

Insert the board into the slot, align the board connector
pins, and press down until the board is firmly seated.

Secure the board’s mounting bracket with the bracket or
backplate screw.
If you leave the computer turned on, you might suffer electric
shock or cause damage to the computer components and the
M2 board.
