Making cable connections
Make su r e not to bend the cables ove r the to p
of this unit (as shown in the illust r ation). If this
ha pp ens, the magnetic field pr oduced by the
t r ansfo r me r s in this unit may cause a
humming noise f r om the s p eake r s.
Important
• Befo r e making o r changing any connections,
switch off the p owe r and disconnect the
p owe r co r d f r om the AC outlet.
• Befo r e un p lugging the p owe r co r d, switch
the p owe r into standby.
HDMI cables
The HDMI cables t r ansfe r s uncom pr essed
digital video, as well as almost eve r y kind of
digital audio that the connected com p onent is
com p atible with, including DVD-video, DVD-
Audio (see below fo r limitations), Video CD/
Su p e r VCD, CD, SACD (DSD 2 ch only) and
192 kHz/8 ch (Max. numbe r of channel in p uts)
PCM.

About HDMI
HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Inte r face)
su pp o r ts both video and audio on a single
digital connection fo r use with DVD p laye r s,
DTV, set-to p boxes, and othe r AV devices. HDMI
was develo p ed to pr ovide the technologies of
High Bandwidth Digital Content P r otection
(HDCP) as well as Digital Visual Inte r face (DVI)
in one s p ecification. HDCP is used to pr otect
digital content t r ansmitted and r eceived by
DVI-com p liant dis p lays.
HDMI has the ca p ability to su pp o r t standa r d,
enhanced, o r high-definition video p lus
standa r d to multi-channel su rr ound-sound
audio. HDMI featu r es include uncom pr essed
digital video, a bandwidth of u p to 2.2
gigabytes p e r second (with HDTV signals), one
connecto r (instead of seve r al cables and
connecto r s), and communication between the
AV sou r ce and AV devices such as DTVs.
This r eceive r is also com p atible with the
Dee p Colo r and x.v.Colo r featu r e (x.v.Colo r is
t r adema r ks of Sony Co rp o r ation).

• If the video signal does not a pp ea r on you r TV o r flat sc r een TV, t r y adjusting the r esolution settings on you r com p onent o r
dis p lay. Note that some com p onents (such as video game units) have r esolutions that may not be dis p layed. In this case, use
a (analog) com p osite connection.
• The signals in p ut f r om the analog (com p osite and com p onent) video in p uts of this unit will not be out p ut f r om the
