Important information regarding
the HDMI connection
The r e a r e cases whe r e you may not be able to
r oute HDMI signals th r ough this r eceive r (this
de p ends on the HDMI equi pp ed com p onent you
a r e connecting-check with the manufactu r e r fo r
HDMI com p atibility info r mation).
If you a r en’t r eceiving HDMI signals pr o p e r ly
th r ough this r eceive r (f r om you r com p onent),
p lease t r y the following configu r ation when
connecting u p .
Configuration

Connect you r HDMI-equi pp ed com p onent
di r ectly to the dis p lay using an HDMI cable.
Then use the most convenient connection
(digital is
r ecommended) fo r sending audio to
the r eceive r . See the o p e r ating inst r uctions
fo r mo r e on audio connections. Set the
dis p lay volume to minimum when using this
configu r ation.
Symptom Remedy
No p ictu r e o r sound. • If the pr oblem still p e r sists when connecting you r HDMI com p onent
di r ectly to you r monito r , p lease consult the com p onent o r monito r manual
o r contact the manufactu r e r fo r su pp o r t.
No p ictu r e. • De p ending in the out p ut settings of the sou r ce com p onent, it may be
out p utting a video fo r mat that can’t be dis p layed. Change the out p ut
settings of the sou r ce, o r connect using the com p onent o r com p osite jacks.
• This r eceive r is HDCP-com p atible. Check that the com p onents you a r e
connecting a r e also HDCP-com p atible. If they a r e not, p lease connect
them using the com p onent o r com p osite video jacks.
• De p ending on the connected sou r ce com p onent, it’s p ossible that it
will not wo r k with this r eceive r (even if it is HDCP-com p atible). In this
case, connect using the com p onent o r com p osite video jacks between
sou r ce and r eceive r .
• If video images do not a pp ea r on you r TV o r flat sc r een TV, t r y adjusting
the r esolution, Dee p Colo r o r othe r setting fo r you r com p onent.
• To out p ut signals in Dee p Colo r , use an HDMI cable (High S p eed HDMI
TM
Cable) to connect this r eceive r to a com p onent o r TV with the Dee p Colo r
featu r e.
No sound, o r sound
suddenly ceases.
• Check the audio out p ut settings of the sou r ce com p onent.
• Check that the Audio Pa r amete r setting is set to
HDMI AMP/THRU
( r efe r to p age 31).
• If the com p onent is a DVI device, use a se p a r ate connection fo r the audio.

If you r dis p lay only has one HDMI te r minal, you can only r eceive HDMI video f r om the connected com p onent.

De p ending on the com p onent, audio out p ut may be limited to the numbe r of channels available f r om the connected dis p lay
unit (fo r exam p le audio out p ut is r educed to 2 channels fo r a monito r with ste r eo audio limitations).
•
If you want to switch the in p ut sou r ce, you’ll have to switch functions on both the r eceive r and you r dis p lay unit.
•
Since the sound is muted on the dis p lay when using the HDMI connection, you must adjust the volume on the dis p lay eve r y
time you switch in p ut sou r ces.
