Replacement of the filter
The filter is to be replaced after approximately 500 hours of use, or when it appears dirty,
gray or brown, or if it gets wets. Open the filter holder (Fig. A/5) and replace the filter with
a new one. Do not clean or reuse the filter.
Use only original manufacturer-supplied filter.
Do not use the device without the filter.
Troubleshooting
The device does not turn on:
1. Make sure the plug is firmly fitted to the electrical outlet.
2. Make sure the device has been operating within operating limits indicated in these
Instructions for use (30 minutes ON / 30 minutes OFF).
The device does not nebulize, or the nebulization is weak:
1. Make sure the ends of the air tube are fitted tightly onto the main unit and onto
the nebulizer.
2. Check whether the nebulizer is empty of medication or overfilled with medication
(maximum fill is 6 ml).
3. Check whether the nebulizer nozzle is obstructed.
4. Check whether the baffle is inserted properly (Fig. C).
If the device does not work properly after attempting these troubleshooting steps,
contact an authorized distributor or Philips Respironics Customer Service at
(inside the US) 1-800-962-1266, (outside the US) +1 724-387-4000.
Maintenance and repairs
Never open the device.
There are no serviceable parts within the unit. The compressor
requires no lubrication or maintenance.
9. When using the nosepiece (Fig. A/12) or the mask (Fig. A/14), take the angled mouthpiece
off and connect the nosepiece or the mask directly to the nebulizer (Fig. G).
10. Plug the compressor into the electrical outlet, making sure the electrical rating shown
on the rating plate on the bottom of the unit corresponds to your main voltage.
11. To start the treatment, switch the device ON by pressing the ON / OFF switch
(Fig. A/2) onto the “I” position.
ATTENTION:
This device is rated for intermittent use: 30 minutes ON / 30 minutes OFF.
12. Breathe normally using the prescribed accessories. The masks and mouthpiece are
designed to be used with your normal breathing technique.
13. When the treatment has been completed, switch the unit OFF by setting the switch
position to “O” and disconnect the plug from the electrical outlet.
14. Wash the nebulizer and accessories as described in the
“Cleaning and disinfection
of the accessories”
section.
Cleaning and maintenance
Cleaning of the compressor
Use a clean dry cloth and mild detergents to clean the outside of the unit.
ATTENTION: During cleaning, make sure the internal parts of the unit are not in
contact with liquids and the power cord is not connected.
Cleaning and disinfection of the accessories
After each treatment:
The nebulizer and nosepiece can be cleaned by washing in liquid soap and water and
then disinfected by boiling in water (max. 10 minutes) or in an autoclave (max. 121°C). It is
suggested that the mask and the angled mouthpiece be disinfected using cold disinfecting
liquids. Dry the nebulizer using a clean cloth. After drying, connect it to the air outlet (Fig. A/4)
and switch the compressor ON and let it run for 5–10 minutes.
Do not boil or autoclave the air tube, the mask or the angled mouthpiece.
It is very important to carefully follow the cleaning and disinfecting instructions
for efficient and safe product performance.
Replacement of the nebulizer
The nebulizer should be replaced after a long period of inactivity, or if it is obstructed by dry
medication, dust, etc. With normal use, your nebulizer should last at least 6 months.
