  V1553B

1.1 Product Overview

The V1553B circuit card assembly is a 3U VME compatible A24/D16 interrupt capable board with one or two separate dual
redundant MIL-STD-1553-B interfaces. Each 1553 interface has the capability to time-tag incoming messages. A 16-bit
programmable register can be either clocked internally or via an external oscillator source connected through the front panel.
The internal clock source is accurate to within 2

µ

s. Each 1553 interface has an 8 kByte dual-ported RAM buffer that is

accessible by a host processor on the VME interface.

The V1553B offers the user all the functions he requires, to be able to use his VMEbus in a Bus Controller (BC), Remote
Terminal Unit (RTU) and bus Monitor (MT) mode in conjunction with this DoD standardized bus.

The V1553B module with its interfaces, transformers and transceivers provides serial communication to either this Military
standard bus, or to field busses on a Manufacturing Automation Protocol (MAP) network.

Further to its roles in military or naval systems, applications for this bus are found in harsh environments such as oil drilling
industry where it could be used to monitor drill bit conditions down the well, the nuclear reactor industry for critical process
control etc.

1.2 Ordering Information

The V1553B is available as a single slot PepCard module operating within the E2 (-40¼C to +85¼C) temperature range.
