Make sure you have a stable, clean working environment. Dust and dirt
can get into POS Terminal components and cause a malfunction. Use
containers to keep small components separated. Pu tting all small
components in a safe container keeps them from becoming lost. Adequate
lighting and proper tools can prevent you from accidentally damaging the
internal components. The procedures that fo llow require only a few tools,
including the following:
•
Philips screwdriver
•
flat-tipped screwdriver
•
set of jeweler’s screwdrivers
•
grounding strap
•
anti-static pad
Most of the electrical and mechanical connections can be disconnected
using your fingers. It is recommended that you do
not
use needle -nosed
pliers to disconnect connectors, as these can damage the soft metal or
plastic parts of the connectors.
Note!
1. The arrows in the following procedures show the direction of movement to
remove/replace a device or component, or to turn a screw or key to release a
device.
2. All connectors are keyed to attach in only one way.
3. Always use the correct screw size as indicated in the procedures.
