Step 28: Fit Grommets to the Flight Controller
Important!

If you have the ELEV-8 V2 No Flight Controller kit (#80202): the directions in
Section 7 are specifically meant for installing and connecting the HoverFly OPEN control board
only ​ . Use caution if attempting to adapt some or all of these directions for any other control
board. Parallax accepts no liability for the use of these directions with components not sold or
provided by Parallax for your specific kit.
The Flight Controller (HoverflyOPEN) has a gyroscope sensor that is extremely sensitive to
vibration, which negatively impacts its accuracy. To reduce such vibrations, the HoverflyOPEN
comes with rubber grommets that fit into the mounting holes.
Some boards come with the grommets pre-installed; if that is the case with your HoverflyOPEN,
you can skip this step and move onto Step 29.
Parts Needed
● HoverflyOPEN Flight Controller w/ Grommets (#31500)
Instructions
1. Remove the HoverflyOPEN from its ESD-safe bag.
2. Hold the HoverflyOPEN in one hand, careful not to bend any of the pins.
3. Using your other hand, take one of the grommets and squeeze one side as you push it
through one of the four grommet holes.
4. Push/pull the flanges of the grommet as necessary until it sits properly into the hole.
