Alarms
The following table describes the alarm conditions that will generate an SNMP
trap for a physical interface, and the frame relay LMIs and DLCIs. These alarm
conditions also generate Health and Status messages seen on the System and
Test Status screen.

Alarm Conditions (1 of 6)
Alarm Condition
What It Indicates
What To Do
Abnormal Station
Code
An Abnormal Station Code
is being received from the
network DS0 for the
identified OCU-DP
interface. This indicates
that the far-end unit is
disconnected or
powered-off.
1. Check the APM’s slot location
and the affected port.
2. Check the cable to the far-end
device.
3. Check that the far-end device
is operational.
AIS at Network 1
An Alarm Indication Signal
(AIS) is being received by
the interface. AIS is an
unframed, all ones signal.
For the network interface, report
the problem to your T1 service
provider.
AIS at DSX-1
For the DSX-1 interface,
the attached DTE is
transmitting an AIS.
For the DSX-1 interface, check
the DTE attached to the
interface.
AIS at ISDN PRI
(Active/Idle)
For the ISDN PRI DBM
interface, the ISDN network
is transmitting an AIS.
For the ISDN PRI DBM interface,
report the problem to your ISDN
service provider.
APM Card Failed
The NAM detects an APM
card failure for the identified
slot, or the APM card was
removed.
1. Check whether the APM was
removed from the slot.
2. Remove the APM, then
reinstall it.
3. Contact your service
representative.
Clock Out of Range
A valid port rate cannot be
detected because the:
Unit is auto-rating on the
network data port, trying to
detect a valid port rate.
Rate detected is greater
than the highest port rate
supported by the unit.
– FrameSaver 9820
rates: 64 or 128 kbps
– FrameSaver 9820-C
rates: 64 – 2048 kbps
in 64 kbps increments
If the condition continues:
1. Confirm that there is a valid
clock on the cable.
2. Manually configure the NTU
for a rate supported by the
unit.
3. If necessary, replace the
access unit with a higher
speed access unit capable of
supporting the NTU clock rate.
