Troubleshooting (Advanced)

When an external display not compatible with the power-saving mode is used with the computer, the display may not func-
tion correctly when the computer enters the power-saving mode. In this case, turn on the external display again.
However, in the case of some external displays, the screen display may be distorted or the mouse cursor may not be prop-
erly displayed depending on the settings. In this case, try setting the number of colors, screen area (resolution), and
refresh rate to smaller values.
The sidebar gadgets are not correctly displayed

Log off and log on Windows again.
Pressing a letter key produces a number
z
The computer may be in ten-key mode.
If NumLk indicator
lights up, press
NumLk
, to disable the ten-key mode, and then input.
Only capital letters are being input
z
The computer may be in Caps Lock mode.
If Caps Lock indicator
lights up, press
Caps Lock
, to disable the Caps Lock mode, and then input.
How to input European characters (ß, à, ç etc.), symbols or Euro currency sym-
bol is unclear

With the following procedure, enter a character using the code table.
A
Click
(Start) - [All Programs] - [Accessories] - [System Tools] - [Character Map].
B
Point to the desired font name, such as European fonts, and select it.
Combined key operations with the Fn key do not work

Check whether [Fn/Ctrl Key] is set to [Replace] in the [Main] menu of the Setup Utility. (
Change the setting back to [Normal], or if continuing with [Replace] selected, use
Ctrl
in place of
Fn
.
