Appendix C: Troubleshooting tips
Common Issues:
Solutions:
Unable to locate the system on the
network
1) Make sure that Osprey BOSS is on the same VLAN or
subnet that the Talon is on.
2) Make sure that the computer hosting Osprey BOSS
has a rule in the firewall to allow broadcast network
traffic for BOSS
Closed caption text unreadable
Frame Rate divider value should be set to 1
Unable to locate the MAC address
Use Osprey BOSS, click on the gear icon, and then on the
Status tab
Web page not loading properly
1) Open another web browser with the IP Address
2) click on the system via Osprey BOSS
3) clear the cache of the web browser, then enter the IP
Address
How to disable login
On the
System Contro
l web page, click the
Set Password
button. For the
New password
and
Password again
parameters, do not enter anything (leave blank), then
click the
change
button. Reboot the unit. You will not be
prompted to login.
Web page unresponsive or not able to
access the web page after upgrade
Perform clear configuration/system from Osprey BOSS
Error message(s) indicates "bad
destination" when attempting to start an
encoder
Verify the URL is correct
Grey screen or blue screen output video
Grey screen output means no SDI input signal. Blue
screen output means no HDMI input signal.
What does "polling" mean after starting
an encoder
No valid signal is connected. Check signal source
No video when streaming to Wowza or
Akamai
Changed the Frame Align to False, then back to True.
Upgrading the unit not successful or not
knowing how to upgrade the unit
Ensure using a 2GB USB stick and provide instructions on
how to upgrade. If available, upgrade via the web
interface
