APPENDIX 3 - REFRACTORY SLABS REPLACEMENT

The intense heat of the fire will normally cause hairline cracks in the refractory slabs. These cracks

can be minimized by proper curing as described in “First Fires”. They will not normally diminish the

effectiveness of the refractory slabs. If large cracks develop, then the refractory slabs should be
replaced. Remove the damaged slabs and replace them with new ones in the following order:
