DIRECTORY listing
D E S C R I P T I O N
We mentioned previously that the name of every file stored on disc is
also listed in the directory sector. In addition, the length of each file in
sectors and its write .protect status is also listed. This function allows you
to display a list of all files, a set of files or one file, together with the file
length in sectors and the write protect status.
I N S T R U C T I O N S
!DIR [(drive number)]
!DIR <ambiguous filename>
!DIR <filename>
for all files on the disc
for a set of files
for one file
R e m e m b e r that you specify the drive n u m b e r as part of the filename or
ambiguous filename and that you can use wildcard characters to specify
an ambiguous filename.
W h e n you request a directory listing for a complete disc the display will
look something like this.

On the top line 1 - M Y D I S C tells you the drive n u m b e r is 1 and the n a m e
given to the disc in F O R M A T T I N G is M Y D I S C . Directory Page 1 is
the first screenful of filenames.
If there are m o r e filenames than can be displayed on the screen there
will be other directory pages, 2, 3, 4 etc.
