STABILITY, ADJUSTMENT AND VERIFICATION
19
This is the operating procedure:
!
Verify that the battery has been correctly charged
!
Remove the two largest screws located on the rotating cup. Remove the equip-
ment from inside the box in order to get access to the potentiometer. Block up
the screw holes (or simply leave them in place) to avoid any escape of air
!
Place the rotating cup containing its polyurethane foam on the motor shaft,
put the appropriate selector on the
CIP10
and put it in the sealed enclosure.
From a practical perspective, a selector body can be left in the enclosure and
equipped as needed for adjustment of different versions.
!
Start up the instrument.
!
Impose the desired flow rate (7 or 10 L/min depending on the
CIP10
version)
by blowing air into the flow rate meter.
!
Adjust the potentiometer screw in order to bring the reading on the manome-
ter to 0 Pa. The flow rate of the air blown into the flow rate meter and out of
the
CIP10
are then balanced, meaning that the
CIP10
’s flow rate is exactly
that indicated by the flow rate meter.
!
Stop the flow of air.
!
Withdraw the unit without its head and measure the rotation speed of the
rotating cup using an optical tachometer without contact to avoid slowing
cup. Note this speed (of order 6800 RPM for the
CIP10 R
and
CIP10 I
and
7000 RPM for the
CIP10 T
).
The
CIP10
does not tolerate any pressure loss from the measurement system;
no other measurement mechanism that does not compensate for the pressure
loss can be used without the risk of significant errors.
QUICKLY VERIFYING THE FLOW RATE
WITH A TACHOMETER
The only subsequent check to perform,
occasionally, is verifying the rotation
speed of the rotating cup using the opti-
cal tachometer. The flow rate is linearly
related to the rotation speed. The meas-
urement is extremely sensitive and varia-
tions of several tens of rotations per
minute are normal, considering the ±
0.5% precision of the control circuit. Do
not perform any new adjustment unless
the controlled rotation speed deviates
appreciably from the nominal speed
(more than 150 RPM for example).
