SECTION 6
SAFETY ALERTS
OMEO EVOLUTION USER MANUAL

|
In addition to safety alerts contained elsewhere
in this manual, this chapter describes some other
Omeo safety alerts and refers to the Segway PT
User Manual (Pg. 51).
The safety alerts include:
•
Speed Limiter
•
Shake Warning
•
Safety Shutdown.
It is important that you recognise these alerts and
know how to respond appropriately before you
ride your Omeo.
WARNING
Read and follow all the instructions in the
User Manuals and watch the User Video for
important safety information about the
Speed Limiter, Shake Warning, and Safety
Shutdown alerts.
NOTICE
Not every safety issue triggers an alert. For
additional safety tips and guidelines, see
Segway PT User Manual (Pg. 62).
Speed Limiter
Refer to Segway PT User Manual (Pg. 52).
Shake Warning
Refer to Segway PT User Manual (Pg. 54).
Safety Shutdown
Refer to Segway PT User Manual (Pg. 57).
If the Omeo detects a critical fault, or if the battery
is too low it will perform a Safety Shutdown.
You will know this is happening when your Omeo
automatically reduces its speed, gives a shake
warning, emits a warning tone and the InfoKey™
controller displays an unhappy face.
You then have approximately 8 to 10 seconds
from the start of the safety shutdown to come to
a controlled stop in a safe location. In this mode
the legs should automatically lower before the
machine powers down, but it is good practice to
come to come to a complete stop and deploy the
legs within the 8-10 second period.
NOTICE
After going through a Safety Shutdown
sequence it is important that you re-centre
the seat and put the steering selection lever to
joystick before restarting your machine.
WARNING
Do not restart your Omeo until you have
identified and fixed the fault that caused the
Shutdown.
Section 6: Safety Alerts
WARNING
Whilst in balance mode, if you are separated
from the seat for longer than 1 second, then
sit back down (re-engaging the pressure plates)
your Omeo will enter the Safety Shutdown
sequence and the legs will automatically
deploy. If the pressure plates are not
re-engaged then the Riderless Shutdown
sequence will complete, the legs will not
deploy and your Omeo will fall over.
Riderless Shutdown
If you are separated from your seat the Omeo
will automatically go into the Riderless Shutdown
sequence and power down.
The Riderless Shutdown sequence takes
approximately 10 seconds – reducing speed,
giving a shake warning, emitting a warning tone
and finally powering down. In this mode the legs
will not deploy. You will then need to upright your
machine, lower the stabilising legs and engage the
seat lock by gently tilting the seat back until you
hear a mechanical click.
WARNING
If the Omeo is on uneven ground and goes
through the Riderless Shutdown sequence it
is important that you re-centre the seat and
switch the Omeo to joystick mode before
restarting your machine.
