Setup of the “HDTV
SETUP” Menu
This menu is used in the basic setups of this instrument
when the HDTV signal is used as the input signal as well
as setups of its frequently used functions.
To display the “HDTV SETUP” menu

Press the “MENU” button to initiate the menu
display.

” to select “SIGNAL SETUP,” and
press the “ENTER” button.

” to display the “HDTV SETUP”
menu (see Figure 5.12).

Setting “HD FORMAT”
This item is used to select the HDTV signal format when
the HDTV signal is input to this instrument.

Press “ v ” or “ V ” to select “HD FORMAT,” and
press the “ENTER” button.

Press “ v ” or “ V ” to select either “RGB” or
“YPbPr,” and press the “ENTER” button.
Setting “HD ASPECT”
This item is used to select the ratio between the width
and height (aspect ratio) when the HDTV signal is input
to this instrument.

Press “ v ” or “ V ” to select “HD ASPECT,” and
press the “ENTER” button.

Press “ v ” or “ V ” to select one of settings “4 : 3,” “5
: 4,” “16 : 9” and “16 : 10,” and press the “ENTER”
button.
Setting “OUTPUT SIG”
This item is used to select the format of the output video
signal from this instrument when the HDTV video
signal is input to this instrument.

“SD LETTER” and “SD CROP,” and press the

Setting “HD OUTPUT SYNC”
This item is used to select the sync signal when the
HDTV signal is used as the input video signal to this
instrument.

Press “ v ” or “ V ” to select “HD OUTPUT SYNC,”
and press the “ENTER” button.

Press “ v ” or “ V ” to select either “EXT” or
“EXT&G-ON,” and press the “ENTER” button.
Usually select “EXT&G-ON.”
Setting “HD SHARPNESS”
This item is used to set the level of the edge
enhancement in the printed picture when the HDTV
signal is input to this instrument. Increasing this setup
increases the enhancement level.
If the enhancement level is too high, the printed picture
may look rough. If it is too low, the printed picture may
look blurred.
“HD SHARPNESS” can also be set in “COLOR
ADJUST” menu. Changing the setup of either item
affects the setups of both items.
This setup is valid only for the printed picture and is not
applied to the signal output to the monitor.

RGB : The RGB component video signals
YPbPr :
The color-difference video signals
AUTO : Same video signal output as “Setting “SD/
HD SEL”” on page 60.
SD LETTER : HDTV video signal (when “HD
ASPECT” is set to “16 : 9” or “16 : 10”) down
convert into SDTV video signal.
SD CROP :
HDTV video signal (when “HD
ASPECT” is set to “4 : 3” or “5 : 4”) down convert
into SDTV video signal.
EXT : The sync separation type video signals
EXT&G-ON :
The sync-on-green type and sync
separation type video signals
