Chapter 4 Basic operations
„ Inserting the insertion tube
While observing the monitor screen, carefully check the insertion direction as
you slowly insert the insertion tube into the object being observed. Perform the
angulation operation as required during insertion. Be careful not to apply
excessive pushing force, twisting or tension to the insertion tube.
WARNING
• The optical adapters have a safe double-screw installation design. However, if an optical
adaptor starts to come off the distal end while inside the object being observed, the
illumination turns off and the image loses focus. In this case, immediately stop the inspection,
carefully withdraw the insertion tube and secure the optical adapter as described in
“Inspecting the parts of the optical adapter” (page 36).
• Be sure to turn the illumination light on during insertion into the object being examined. The
illumination light does not light if the optical adapter is not correctly attached to the distal end
of the insertion tube.
• Read and understand the contents of “Important Information - Please Read Before Use”
(page 3) before using the insertion tube. In case of any questions, contact Olympus.
CAUTION
• The message shown below may display when the illumination goes off and the observed
image becomes dark during an inspection. This indicates that there is problem with the
electrodes caused by foreign matter in between the optical adapter and the insertion tube
distal end. In this case, immediately stop operation, gently remove the insertion tube and
follow the instructions on page 138 under “Error messages”. If present, it may cause damage
to the optical adapter or the insertion tube distal end.
• Using the system under any conditions other than those specified in “Operating Environment”
in “Chapter 10 Specifications” (page 146) in the instruction manual may cause unexpected
accidents that may damage the insertion tube.
• The amount of screen noise may increase under high ambient temperatures.
