Appendix C: Data Analysis

The XPowder application software can be used to accomplish in-depth data analysis 
of a wide range of powdered substances. This software is supplied with your BTX III 
X-ray diffraction analyzer on the USB flash drive. This appendix includes instructions 
on installing the software and using it to verify alignment of the system using a quartz 
sample (not supplied).

To install XPowder

1.

Connect the USB flash drive (supplied) to a USB port of a computer.

2.

Find the 

xpowder_setup.exe

 (

) filer, and then double-click the icon to run the 

program.

3.

Follow the instructions in the setup wizard (see Figure C-1 on page 80) as the 
installation progresses.
