MAINTENANCE
The facsimile requires very little maintenance: routine maintenance, to be carried out periodically
(cleaning the optical reader, cleaning and purging the print head, etc.), and an operation to be
carried out when the out of ink message is displayed. Care dedicated to the maintenance of the
facsimile machine has a positive effect on the quality of received and copied documents.
OUT OF INK MESSAGE
When the ink in the cartridge runs out, the display shows the message:
OUT OF INK
prompting the operator to:
- replace the print head, if the print head used is of the disposable type
or
- replace the ink cartridge, if the print head is fitted with an interchangeable cartridge
(The ink cartridge can be replaced several times. After a certain number of times, however,
the printing quality inevitably deteriorates. At this point, you should replace the print head).
While performing these operations, a small amount of ink may be spilled into the printer
compartment: to prevent this happening, the facsimile machine automatically inserts a sheet of
paper under the print carriage.
REPLACING THE INK CARTRIDGE
This operation can only be performed if the facsimile machine is fitted with a print head with an
interchangeable ink cartridge.
1. Lift the operator console and
open the print head
compartment cover.
2. Remove the used cartridge,
WITHOUT REMOVING THE
PRINT HEAD, by pressing the
black lever as indicated by the
arrow.
3. Remove the new cartridge
from its packing and peel off
the protective film.
