The Odyssey
®
Imager has an internal server that provides scan
control, as well as temporary data storage and user access control.
Internet browsers such as Internet Explorer
®
(version 4 or above) or
equivalent can be used to access the Odyssey Imager directly to start
scans, manipulate image files or retrieve files. Users with
Adminis-
trator
access rights can also use an Internet browser to add or delete
user accounts and to perform routine diagnostic functions.
Not all functions in the Odyssey Server Software are available to all
users. For example, users who are assigned
Browse
or
Control
access
rights cannot perform functions that require
Administrator
access
rights. Functions that have restricted access are noted where appro-
priate throughout the remainder of this manual.
Note:
Browser-based access to images on the Odyssey instrument is possible only for
stand-alone configurations and networks that permit such access.
Each Odyssey Imager is assigned an Internet Protocol (IP) address or
host name by your network Administrator. The IP address distin-
guishes the Odyssey Imager from any other device on your network
and the Internet. When the IP address or host name is entered into an
Internet browser as a URL, the Odyssey Imager sends HTML pages
that can be used to start scans, retrieve scan data, etc.
