a) Log in to the Odyssey software using an account with Adminis-
trator access. In the Windows
®
7 operating system, right click on
the Odyssey desktop icon and select
Run as admin
.
b) Insert the CD for the module in your CD-ROM drive.
c) Choose
File > Import Keys
in the Odyssey software.
d) Use the file selection window to browse for the key file on the CD,
click
OK
, and follow the instructions on the screen.
e) Repeat as needed for other optional software modules.
Configuring the Windows System for the Odyssey
Software
Use the Windows
®
control panels (
Start > Control Panel
) to make
sure the
Date and Time
control panel is set accurately, and that the
Power Options
control panel has all power management options set
to
Never
(prevents automatic shutdown during long scans).
The Odyssey
®
software uses settings files to record user preferences
and to set the default behavior of certain aspects of the Odyssey
software. When settings are saved, they are written to a special
Odyssey Settings folder. In some cases, Windows needs to be
configured so that all users have permission to create or write to files
in the Odyssey Settings folder.
The Windows operating system is designed for multi-user operation.
Each Windows user has an account name and password, and is
assigned access rights. Windows XP, for example, has accounts with
Administrator
rights and another type of account that has only
Limited
access rights. If the Odyssey software is installed using an
account with
Administrator
access rights, some users with
Limited
access rights may not be able to use the Odyssey software because
they are denied access to the Odyssey settings file. This section
