Softpatch Option
The NOVA Systems MIDI 616 can actually control up to 64 dimmer channels if equipped with the
Softpatch Option. The 16 individual control channels can be assigned to any number of dimmer
channels between 1 and 64. This is called “softpatching.” The console comes the factory preset with the
following softpatch program:

Some examples of the use of Softpatch are:
The lighting system can not be set up as was programmed for, or with less light fixtures because of stage
limitations.
The lighting system was set up wrong.
More than 16 dimmer channels are required.
An installation with more than 16 Individual light fixtures installed needs to be reconfigured often
without rewiring.
In any of the above situations, Softpatch may be the answer.
