Covatutto 108/162 analogica - Description of the shown steps

EN

 1

Remove the incubator from the package.

Put the incubator on a sturdy plane at a height of about 80 cm, in premises
with a temperature included between 17°C and 25°C (62°F-77°F) and
humidity included between 55% and 75%.

It is recommendable to keep

the incubator away from heat sources, air draughts and windows to prevent
sudden harmful temperature changes.

 2

Carefully read the instruction manual.

 (Annex A)

3

Remove the safety lock from the door hook (a) by sliding it upwards (b).

It is recommendable to keep the lock and use it again to lock the door during
possible incubator displacements.

 4

   Install the supplied accessories.

Install the thermometer without removing it from its own case (a); make
sure that the reading scale is next to the “lens” (b).

 5

Remove the egg trays and install the egg turning rods or the automatic

egg turning devices (

see the instructions

).

 6

Install the separators inside the specifi c trays. If it is diffi

  cult to introduce

the separators in the machine due to friction, slightly press the two ends to
facilitate their introduction.

 7

Introduce the egg trays into the specifi c guides, and then connect

the movable bottom to its own egg turning rod. First, displace the rod
completely outwards (a), and then introduce the tray into the guides (b) by
keeping the hook of the movable bottom completely close to the right wall
of the incubator (where you fi nd the egg turning rod) in order to facilitate
the automatic connection (c).

 8

Test the operation by gently displacing the egg turning rods in the two

directions.

 9

Fill the pan/s with lukewarm water and place it/them on the bottom

of the incubator (if there is one pan: centrally (a); if there are two pans:
parallely and at the same distance one to the other in correspondence with
the external references that are marked on the bottom (b)).

10

Connect the plug to the mains socket with the incubator closed and

without eggs. Wait until the green warning light, which is always ON at the
beginning, will start operating in intermittent mode signalling that the
temperature is starting to stabilize.

 11

The incubator has a push-button that, if pressed, will turn ON a bulb that

allows lighting inside the incubator.
Do not keep the bulb ON for long periods to prevent sudden temperature
changes due to the heat emanated by the bulb. In addition, it is recommendable
to keep the bulb OFF in case of temperature adjustment.

12

Wait about 1 hour; after that, check that the liquid inside the

thermometer scale has reached the red reference line or 100°F without
necessarily coinciding with it (b); if not so, adjust the temperature by
increasing (in clockwise direction) or reducing it (in counter-clockwise
direction) by slowly rotating the adjustment screw with a small screwdriver
(a); refer to the warning light that will initially be always ON or always
OFF, and then it will start operating in an intermittent way only when the
internal temperature reaches the value that follows the “adjusted” value.

It is recommendable to perform this operation only in case of need and in a
gentle way.

13

When the internal temperature has stabilised (red line or 100°F), open

the door, remove the egg trays and rapidly close back the door to avoid
wasting heat; place the eggs in the trays (see points 17 and Egg types) and
leave a minimum space between the separators (a).

It is recommendable to use a calendar to note down the incubation date.

14

Open the door, re-introduce the egg trays and fi nally close back the

door.

Note: before opening the incubator, for any reason, you have always to
disconnect the plug from the mains socket to prevent sudden temperature
changes; however, it is recommendable to open the incubator only to perform
the necessary operations and for short times.

15

If you do not have an automatic egg turning device: manually rotate

all eggs at least twice a day (morning-evening) by using the specifi c egg
turning rods.

16

During the last 3 days before egg-hatching, prepare the incubator: (a)

remove the separators, (b) completely fi ll the pan/s with water, (c) do not
rotate the eggs any more (or deactivate the automatic egg turning devices
by disconnecting the plug from the mains socket).

During these 3 days, open the incubator only if it is strictly necessary.

Chick births can start 1 day before and end 2 days after the pre-established
date (ex. 21 days for chickens).

17

Continuous-cycle incubation: you can incubate the eggs in diff erent

periods, but always and not more than 5 days after their laying.
The continuous-cycle incubation is performed in two ways:
1. in trays (using one tray at a time) (a)
2. in rows (by using a number of rows that are created by means of the
separators according to the number of available eggs) (b).

Select the incubation in trays when, within 5 days from egg laying, you have
a suffi

cient quantity to fi ll the tray; select the incubation in rows when, within

5 days from egg laying, you have a few eggs or a number that exceeds the
capacity of a tray.

EXAMPLE OF INCUBATION IN EGG TRAYS:
(a1) 1st egg tray: eggs of day 1
(a2) 2nd egg tray: eggs of day 3
EXAMPLE OF INCUBATION IN ROWS (Covatutto 108-162):
(b1) 1st egg tray-rows from 1 to 4: eggs of day 1
(b2) 1st egg tray-rows from 5 to 7: eggs of day 3
EXAMPLE OF INCUBATION IN ROWS (Covatutto 162):
(b3) 2nd egg tray-rows from 1 to 4: eggs of day 4
(b4) 2nd egg tray-rows from 4 to 8: eggs of day 6
1 additional EMPTY EGG TRAY TO PLACE THE EGGS CLOSE TO HATCHING
