This respirator consists of a half mask into which the NEWTEC filters are inserted.
This respirator is a personal protective equipment belonging to the III category as
defined by Directive 89/686/EEC:
ln two filter holder half-masks, two filters of the same type and class Should always
be used .
This respirator should not be used if the contaminant concentration exceeds 50
times the Thereshold Limit Value for the gas from which the user must protect
himself.. It lets you wear other safety equipment comfortably, such as glasses,
helmets, face shields, etc.
1. USAGE RESTRICTIONS
• Use with respect to open flames or liquid metal droplets.
• This unit filters the contaminated air, but does not provide oxygen. It should
therefore not be used when the oxygen content in the air is lower than 17% of
volume.
• The use of the equipment in oxygen enriched atmospheres mustn’t be taken in
account.
• Do not use this equipment in inflammable or explosive atmosphere.
• Before entering a contaminated area, always ascertain the nature of the
contaminant and the concentration in order to confirm whether this type of
protection may be used and to select the correct filter.
• This type of protection must not be used when the contaminant is highly toxic or
odourless, such as carbon monoxide. In such cases a self-contained or partially
self-contained unit with positive pressure should be used.
• This equipment should not be used by people whose beards, scars, etc. prevent
correct fitting of the mask or impede proper working of the aspirator valve.
• If the contaminant is harmful to the eyes, a complete mask covering the eyes
should be used
2. USE
Under normal usage, the mask allows the wearer to breathe without appreciable
effort and in maximum comfort. Leave the work zone immediately and replace the
filters if, during usage:
• You have difficulty in breathing.
• You feel sick or dizzy.
• You smell or feel the contaminant.
If these conditions persist after replacing the filters, replace the mask.
2.1. BEFORE USING, CHECK:
• That the unit is not damaged.
• The aspirator valve (See 2.3).
• The fastening system (head straps)
• That the filters are in good condition, i.e. that the wrapper is intact and that the
label, colour and marking are those of the right filter.
• That the filters have not passed the use-by date.
2.2. FITTING, ADJUSTMENT AND REMOVAL OF THE UNIT.
• Place the mask over your nose and mouth.
• Place the harness over your head separating the two straps so that the mask is
held in place in two positions: on the top and back of your head.
• Adjust the unit using the buckles (MASK) or pulling the two straps (EUROPA)
so that the mask is held in position. Example 1.
• To remove the mask simply release the rubber straps by pushing the buckles
(MASK I+ and MASK II+) or by pulling the tabs (EUROPA SII+ ) forward.
2.3. TEST FOR AIR-TIGHTNESS BEFORE USING THE MASK.
• Cover both filter holders with the palms of your hands.
• Breathe in.
• The unit is properly sealed if you notice strong resistance to breathing and the
sides of the mask are pulled towards your face.
• If you notice any leak, dispose of the mask.
2.4. CHANGING THE FILTERS
• Remove used filter cartridges by unscrewing in a counter-clockwise direction.
• Replace with new filter cartridges.
• Both filters must be replaced at the same time.
3. MAINTENANCE
3.1. REPLACEMENT OF COMPONENTS
• The components of the mask, can’t be replaced by the user.
• Components from other sources should not be attached, even if they appear to
fit, since these might cause contaminated air to enter the mask.
3.2. CLEANING AND DISINFECTING:
• It is recommended that the unit is cleaned after each use. Clean the mask and
other parts (except the filters) with lukewarm water and soap.
• Rinse with clean lukewarm water and leave to dry in the air.
• At regular periods, depending on the amount of use, disinfect the unit using a
product offering protection against a wide range of bacteria.
3.3. TRANSPORTING AND CONSERVATION:
The unit should be transported preferentially inside its plastic bag, for keeping the
equipment protected against external that may be present in the working area.
The unit should be stored for preference in its container and in a cool, well-
ventilated area, away from damp, dirt and dust. See recommendations of storage
of the filters in the box.
The shelf life of the filters is marked on them and is valid for untorn wrappers.
Example 2.
The year of manufacture of the half mask is marked inside it. The last point in
the circle marks the year of manufacture. The last point cancels all the previous
ones. Example 3.
Considerations regarding waste disposal; it must be treated in accordance with
the current legislation.
*Note: Marking meaning.
The marking “R” (reusable) means that the additional tests according to EN
14387:2004+A1:2008 -
EN 143:2000+A1:2006 demonstrate that the particle filter or the particle side of a
combined filter can be used up to one shift (maximum 8 hours).
The marking “NR” (for single use only) means that the additional tests according
to EN 14387:2004+A1:2008 - EN 143:2000+A1:2006 demonstrate that the
particle filter or the particle side of a combined filter can be used to one shift
(maximum 8 hours).
* IMPORTANT
These instructions describe correct use of the product to prevent accidents and
must be correctly followed. They are compulsory.
Any guarantee given by NEWTEC with regard to the product shall be rendered
null and void if the equipment has not been used and maintained in accordance
with the instructions set out in this manual. Selection and use of this product lies
outside the control of NEWTEC and are therefore the responsibility of the user.
NEWTEC’s liability is therefore limited to the constant good quality of the product.
