Warning
Do not disassemble, repair, or alter the server.
Never attempt to disassemble, repair, or alter the server on any
occasion other than described in this manual. Failure to follow
this instruction may cause an electric shock or fire as well as
malfunctions of the server.
1.
Power off the server and unplug the power cord.
2.
Remove the left side cover from the server (see
“Removing or Installing the Side
Cover” on page 4-4
).
3.
Locate the position of the jumpers on the system board you are changing. See
“Figure 3 - 1: CMOS and Password Jumpers” on page 3-28
. To change a jumper
setting, use a pair of needle-nose pliers or your fingers to remove the jumper
from its current location. Position the jumper over the two pins for the desired
setting and press it onto the pins. Be careful not to bend the pins. Refer to
“Figure 3 - 1: CMOS and Password Jumpers” on page 3-28
for system board
jumper settings.
4.
Reassemble the server and press the POWER switch.
5.
Power off the server upon completion of POST.
6.
Restore the jumper switch setting and power on the server for reconfiguration.
Clearing and Changing the Passwords
To clear the passwords:
1.
Power off the system and remove the left side panel as described in
“Removing
or Installing the Side Cover” on page 4-4
.
2.
Check to ensure the system power cord(s) is removed from the back of the
system.
3.
Move the Clear Password jumper from the factory default position (left pane of
“Figure 3 - 1: CMOS and Password Jumpers” on page 3-28
) to the Clear Password
position (right pane of
“Figure 3 - 1: CMOS and Password Jumpers” on page 3-28
)
4.
Connect the power cord(s), power on the system and while waiting for POST
to complete, press the
F2
key to enter BIOS setup. This automatically clears all
passwords, provided you exit and save the BIOS setup.
5.
Power off the system and remove the power cord(s).
6.
Move the Clear Password jumper to its default position.
7.
Replace the left side panel, connect the power cord(s) and power on the system.
8.
To specify a new password run the BIOS Setup Utility as described in
“Security
Menu” on page 3-11
.
