2. Installation and Connection

Express5800/R320c-E4, R320c-M4 User's Guide

Chapter 2 Preparation

Note the following precautions to connect cables.



If connecting any peripheral device and its interface cable made by other companies (a third party), contact

your sales representative to check if they can be used with the server beforehand.



USB devices supported by the server are a Flash FDD, keyboard (including a mouse), and SSU (server

switch unit) designated by NEC. Connecting USB devices other than the above will cause malfunctions and
failures.



Consult your service representative for the available modem.



Power off the server before connecting peripheral devices, with the exception of peripherals with USB

interface. Connecting a powered peripheral device to the powered server will cause malfunctions and
failures.



In the case of standard configuration, you need to complete setup of the operating system before installing

external file backup device.



The serial port connectors are reserved for maintenance.



When the device is not Plug and Play device, turn off the server and devices to be connected before

connecting.



Fix the power cord or interface cable with cable ties.



Make sure that no pressure is applied on the plug of power cord.
