4.8.1: Field Name
The “Field Name” specifies which magnetic track is to be written to. The operator has a
choice between: Track 1, Track 2, and Track 3. This parameter is used in conjunction with
the “Track Format” parameter. However, special caution should be taken when designating
these two parameters, ensuring that they both match either industry standards or customer
requirements.
4.8.2: Start Position
“Starting Position” refers to the location of the first digit of the encoding field on a track.
There are two possible settings:
•
“0" for Relative
– The first digit is on the left margin of the encoding field, i.e., the
position is
relative
to the margin.
•
“1" for Absolute
– The first digit is off-set to the right of the left margin by spaces
equal to the number of digits entered, i.e., the encoding begins at an
absolute
number
of spaces from the left margin.
4.8.3: Track Format
Similar to “Name” in the Barcode option, “Field Name” allows the user the choice of identifying
the type of encoding format and its recording location on the magnetic strip. Any of these
formats may be selected by pressing the
[SPACEBAR]
until the desired barcode format is
displayed. The choices available:
•
ISO
•
Old Bally
•
New Bally
•
JIS
•
Custom
4.8.4: Encoding Dir
The “Encoding Direction” specifies in which direction the magnet strip is to be written to. The
operator has a choice between either Forward or Reverse.
