Main Menu
Chapter 2 Page 2
•
Down Arrow
–
Moves cursor down
to next operation or selection.
•
Up Arrow
–
Moves cursor up
to previous operation or selection.
•
Enter
– Selects current or highlighted operation or selection.
•
Escape
– Returns to previous menu (from a sub-menu).
However, the Arrow keys work either horizontally or vertically (
depending on the current menu
or option
). For example, a user can only scroll through the Main Menu options by either the Left
or Right Arrow keys (
horizontal direction
), not the Up or Down Arrow keys (
vertical direction
).
Another way to access the menus is through use of the
Number Lock Key Pad
. When the
Number Lock is disabled, the pad can be used for navigation or enter commands. When the
Number Lock is enabled, the pad is used to enter numbers (
when required
) for data entry.
2.4: Front Panel Switches
The front panel of the
D-40
printer has four pushbutton switches. (Refer to Figure 2-2.)
These buttons will illuminate when activated by either the operator or the unit. These buttons
are defined as follows:
•
WAIT
- Suspends machine operation
AFTER
the current card.
•
ONLINE
- Places unit online to a host over a communication network.
•
SW1
- Application specific.
•
RESET
- Resets the print mechanism and menu. (
The machine can also be
reset by pressing
[CTRL] + [A]
keys
.)
2.5: Main Menu Selections
As explained previously, the Main Menu appears after the machine has booted up. From this
point, the user selects the operation to be performed through the hierarchy of menus.
