Click the control element in the Hardware area or touch it on your NI controller — provid-
ed that the Touch Select option is activated in the Preferences window.

The 

Assign

 pane then displays the assignment properties for that control element.

The Description Area

At the top of the 

Assign

 pane, the Description area displays some descriptive attributes for the

selected control element. The content of this section depends on the controller and the loca-

tion of the control element on the controller:

If the selected control element belongs to a Page, the first line contains the number/letter
of the page followed by its name (as defined in the corresponding Page list of the 

Pages

pane, see 

↑

).

 

This  is  useful  to  quickly  see  which  Page  the  assignment  you  are  editing  is  belonging  to.
This line is empty for control elements which are not included in any Page area. This is not
editable.

MASCHINE STUDIO, MASCHINE MK2, and MASCHINE MIKRO MK2 controllers only: If a
pad is selected, the second line allows you to choose a color for the whole Pad Page.

 

Click the 

Color

 menu and select a color from the palette. On your controller, the selected

color  will  be  mirrored  by  the  corresponding  Group  button  (MASCHINE  STUDIO  and  MA-
SCHINE MK2) or by the GROUP button when that Pad Page is selected (MASCHINE MIK-
RO MK2).
