Design and Function

3.1

Components and proper usage

Heating  clamps  are  used  to  make  belting  material  endless  using  pressure  and  temperature.  The
heating clamp consists of the following components and functional groups:

Functional group

Components

Heating clamp

(top part)

Pressure spring for generation of

pressure
Heating plate
Thermostat
Handle
Connection cable

Heating clamp
(bottom part)

Heating plate
Handle

3.2

How it works

Pressure and temperature are generated in the closed heating clamp between the top and bottom

part, this causes the belting material inserted into the splicing guide to melt and splice after a pre-
scribed period (hold-down time). Once it is finished and cooled down the splice has the physical fea-

tures required.
The adjustment of temperature can be done by means of  a thermostat  which can be adjusted  as

necessary.
You can find more information on how the heating clamps work in the chapter "6. Handling".
