Transmitter Power Measurement
23.
The P665 alignment jig may be used to measure conducted transmitter power or
radiated transmitter power.
24.
To measure conducted power, proceed as follows:
a) Set the transceiver into permanent transmit by initiating Engineering Test Mode 4,
or by connecting SK301, pin 1 to pin 10 (Tx Key to 0V).
b) Insert the transceiver into the P665 and screw the Test Probe into the jig. Connect
a suitable power meter to the BNC connector on the Test Probe. Connect a wire
to the test pad as shown in Figure 16 and wrap it at least three times round the
probe.
c) Check that the power meter reading is at least 50mW.
25.
To measure radiated power, proceed as follows:
a) Set the transceiver into permanent transmit by initiating Engineering Test Mode 4,
or by connecting SK301, pin 1 to pin 10 (Tx Key to 0V).
b) Stand the transceiver vertically into the recess on the top of the P665, with the
transceiver keypad facing the centre of the jig.
c) Connect a suitable power meter to the BNC socket on the P665. Check that the
radiated power level achieved is equal or better than that shown in Table 7.
PROGRAMMING
26.
The transceiver contains an EEPROM which holds unique data, including the paging
address. This data may be entered or changed by using the P648 Programming Unit
and the P648T Programming Software. P648 operation is detailed in Section 5,
Annexe B.
