Advice on Application of Electrodes
In general:
Electrodes may not be altered or tampered with (e.g. by scissors or other tools).
Do not pull the electrodes by force on the electrode cable.

as local anaesthesia).
Apply the electrodes on clean and healthy skin only.
In the case of bodily hair growth, the hair should be shortened with scissors.
Effective current densities of more than 2 mA/cm² require an increased attention of the user
with regard to the intensity adjustment. Therefore we either recommend the use of our self-
adhesive electrodes with a minimum area of 40x40 mm or the use of rubber electrodes with wet
sponge bags. Maximum recommended intensity is 53 mA for 40x40 mm electrodes. Electrodes
with 45x50 mm or 40x80 mm may be used up to 60 mA.
All custom electrodes with the above minimum size which comply with the requirements set out
in the Council Directive 93/42/EEC relating to the Medical Device Directive can be used, if the
connections match the cable of

Pulses over 500 µS and monophasic pulses can increase the risk of skin irritation. Using rubber
electrodes with wet sponge bags reduces this irritation.
Always use rubber-electrodes with wet sponge bags in all programs which work with
monophasic pulses (1-6, 11, 12, 17, 18, 20) - even if these pulses have changing direction.
All materials that have been brought to the skin by the sponge-bags, electrodes or velcro straps
can be removed completely with water and soap.
