Applicable national regulations must be observed and adhered. If required, the local conditions during use must be considered for
the work to be performed. In case of doubt, the local MSA company should be consulted and / or the applicable national regulations
be checked.

Rubber components are subject to ageing and according to local conditions must be checked at regular intervals, resp. be replaced.

The checks are performed with the respective lung governed demand valves and, if required, with the respective facepieces.
5.2
Remarks
Care and maintenance should be per-
formed only by authorised personnel.
Do not use organic solvents like nitro
dilution, alcohol, spirit, petrol, etc.
When drying, do not exceed the maxi-
mum permissible temperature of 60°C.
In case of malfunctions, the com-
pressed air breathing apparatus must
not be put into use and must be
checked by an authorised service cen-
tre.
In case the MSA lead seal is broken, it
is no longer assured that the pressure
reducer still functions properly or that
it is still in accordance with the ap-
proval. MSA assumes responsibility
only for properly sealed pressure re-
ducers.
5.3
Cleaning the AirMaXX
5.3.1
Pre-cleaning
•
Open cylinder valve(s) of the compressed air
cylinder(s) on the AirMaXX and put apparatus
under pressure.
•
Remove rough dirt from AirMaXX with water
hose.
Use of a mild detergent is recommended.
•
Close cylinder valve(s), release air from appa-
ratus with lung governed demand valve
5.3.2
Light Soiling
•
Remove compressed air cylinder(s) (see Sect.
4.10)
•
Clean AirMaXX by hand with brush, damp
cloth, etc.
•
Afterwards dry completely in a drying cabinet
at max. 60°C
5.3.3
Heavy Soiling
•
Remove compressed air cylinder(s) (see Sect.
4.10)
•
Disconnect lung governed demand valve from
medium pressure line
•
Open line holder and unbutton shoulder pads
