MODULATION
(Continued)
MODULATION MATRIX
The Modulation Matrix is the nexus for all
modulation paths assigned to the active
Synth. This includes assignments made
here, and those made using the Quick
Assign method; they all are part of one
Modulation Matrix. Pressing the
MOD
button in the Center Console opens the
Modulation Matrix screen.
Each modulation path is placed in a
numbered slot for ease of access and
editing. Rotate the Master Encoder
to select a modulation slot. When a
modulation path has been established, the defining parameters of the modulation path will appear in the
slot. If no modulation path has been established in the selected slot, the + + + + indicators will show that
the slot is ready to hold a new modulation path.
The parameters for the selected modulation path appear in two rows. The active row will appear in
white; the other row will be grayed out. To toggle between the two rows in the selected slot, press
down on the Master Encoder. Regardless of which row is active, the modulation path parameters are
edited using the four Soft Knobs at the bottom of the screen, and the three Soft Buttons up top.
EDITING OR CREATING A NEW
MODULATION PATH
To edit an existing modulation path, select
and highlight the appropriate modulation
slot by rotating the Master Encoder. Use
the Soft Knobs to edit an existing value. To
create a new path inside the Modulation
Matrix, rotate the Master Encoder to select
the first available empty (unassigned) slot.
Use the Soft Knobs to assign a source,
destination, etc. to the new modulation path.
In either case, press down on the Master
Encoder to toggle between top row and
bottom row parameters.
TIP:
As an aid to programming, the far left Soft Button acts as a toggle, allowing the selected
modulation path to be quickly disabled/enabled, without the need to permanently delete the path.
SOURCE
TOP ROW:
Source Parameter Name
BOTTOM ROW:
Source Parameter Value: -300% to 0 to +300%
The first step is to select a modulation source. Be sure the top row is selected and use the SOURCE
Soft Knob to choose the modulation source. Next, press the Master Encoder to access the Bottom Row
parameters and specify a value to indicate the strength of the modulating signal. When the value is set
to 0, the modulation strength is also zero (no effect). Positive values will produce normal modulation;
negative values will produce modulation with an inverted signal.
TECHNICAL NOTE:
Although the Source Amount appears before the Controller Amount and Transform
Amount values; this value is actually applied after the control signal leaves the Controller and the
Transform, but before it reaches the destination. This allows the Controller/Transform to receive the
modulation signal at full strength for more accurate processing. Then the Source Amount is applied to
set the level.
