For a single station system, set docking station address to 3
Installation Connections
Hardware installation includes connecting all of the Docking Stations together with RS485 cables and
connecting the System Host Computer to the chain of Docking Stations. Also plugging the computer power
cable and each of the Docking Station transformers into a power source.
RS485 Interface Cables and Connections
Figure B-1 illustrates the RS485 cables connecting the Cassette Docking Stations and the Host computer.
The Host Interface Cable (2x6844), which connects the Host Computer to the first Docking Station,
includes an RS485 Current Loop Interface Board. This board has been completely prepared at the factory
and needs no additional setup or adjustment. As illustrated, each station has two DB25 connectors to
facilitate linking a chain of up to 16 Docking Stations to the Host.
Chain of Stations and Chain Terminator
All docking stations are identical. The external features of each are illustrated in Figure B-1. Note that each
station has two DB25 connectors. These enable connection of the docking station to the computer, and
enable chaining of up to 16 stations on one computer. DIPswitch settings on the station’s microprocessor
board establish a unique address for each station. The last station in the chain must have a terminator
installed in one of the DBA25 connectors.
The simplest Docking Station System consists of the Host Computer connected to one Docking Station.
The Host Interface Cable connects the computer to the station-input terminal and a terminator connects to
the other station terminal.
Station Address DIP Switch Settings
Each docking station has a unique address assigned and set at the factory during manufacture. If it is
necessary to reset or verify an address, refer to Figure B-3 and Table A-1. The Figure B-3 shows the
location of the DIPswitch Bank on the Microprocessor Board and indicates the ON and OFF switch
positions. Table 1 shows the DIPswitch combinations to set each of the sixteen addresses.
Installation of Docking Station Host Software
Prior to operation of the Docking Station System, the Microsoft Excel program and the Money Controls
Docking Station System Software must be installed on the System Host Computer.
